Orthodonthics is a branch of Dentistry that diagnoses, prevents, intercepts and treates dental malocclusions and Temporo-Mandibular Joint (TMJ) dysfunctions (noise, click and block), due to the uncorrect position or alignment of teeth or to the disharmonic development of bones.
Traditional orthodontic treatments, aiming at getting teeth back to their correct position to restore correct oral functions and pleasant esthetics, are performed applying controlled forces by means of brackets (metal or ceramic) and orthodontic wires, bands, arches and other removable or fixed devices (e.g. transparent aligners).
