Oral Pathology is a branch of Dentistry that prevents, diagnoses, plans and treats infectious (stomatitis, mycoses), autoimmune (lichen, lupus, aphthosis) and neoplastic diseases (oral tumors), that damage oral and periodontal tissues.
This branch deals with monitoring potentially neoplastic pathologies, performing support drug therapies, controlling possible pharmacological drug interactions (e.g. osteoporosis and biphosphonates), excissing oral lesions and changing bad habits (e.g. smoking, alcohol, intake, etc.) responsible for the increase of risk factors for oral pathologies.
